Freshman Information

Dear HSCL Families and Class of 2028,

Welcome! The first day of school is just around the corner and we look forward to meeting you all next week on September 5th. The first day can be a little overwhelming, so please take a look at the information and procedures below so that your transition is as efficient as possible.

First Day Procedure for Freshman:All Freshman students will meet HSCL staff outside in front of the main entrance of the Jamaica Campus building. We suggest that you arrive by 8am as there is a lot of traffic and moving parts on the first day. You will look for the table with our school banner on it that says, "The High School for Community Leadership."

At this table, you will receive your schedule and will be escorted to an area of the lawn with a staff member who will escort groups of students up into the building to your 1st period classroom. PLEASE REMEMBER TO WEAR YOUR HSCL LANYARD IF YOU RECEIVED ONE AT ORIENTATION!

METROS/Student IDs:
Metro Cards will be distributed to students within the first week of school. Student IDs will be created during the first couple of weeks as we need to take updated pictures. Students will be required to show their HSCL schedule upon arrival every day until IDs are distributed.

Supplies:
Students will be given basic supplies and chromebooks during the first couple of weeks. Any additional subject specific supply lists will be sent home with your child on the first day of school.

Forms and paperwork:
Please make sure that your child returns the folders with important forms completed (blue cards, guidance packet, lunch forms, etc). These will be collected on the first day.

Upper grades Information

Dear HSCL Families,

Welcome back! The first day of school is just around the corner and we look forward to seeing you all next week on September 5th. The first day can be a little overwhelming, so please take a look at the information and procedures below so that your transition is as efficient as possible.

First Day Procedure Students Grades 10-12:
Students will arrive at their normal time, 8:30am, and proceed through scanning. Students must have their student IDs in order to be allowed to enter the building. We encourage you all to access your student programs through your Teachhub DOE account. You can access your accounts by following the information in the link below:

10 and 11th graders will report to their first period classes.

*12th graders, some of your schedules do not follow a traditional day and may start later than 9am. Please arrive at school when your first class starts. For example, if you start 2nd period, you should arrive at school by 9:40am.

If there are any serious conflicts that arise with your schedules you must email your Guidance Counselor to set up an appointment.

9th Grade: Ms. Duran

Your student will be sent home with a blank Blue card during the first week of school. Please make sure that this card is returned ASAP.
